Transition Plan for the new 3-Part CIA Structure launching in mid-2013

In November, the IIA announced a new 3-Part CIA exam structure that will be effective in mid-2013. The IIA has now announced the Transition Plan for candidates who are partway through the 4-Part exams when the new system launches:

• Part 1 will provide full credit for Part 1 under the 3-Part structure.
• Part 2 will provide full credit for Part 2 under the 3-Part structure.
• Parts 3 and 4 will provide full credit for Part 3 under the 3-Part structure.
• Part 3 or 4 by itself will not provide any credit under the 3-Part structure.

Because a vast majority of candidates complete their CIA exams in less than a year, anyone currently pursuing (or planning to pursue) their CIA certification should continue with the current 4-Part exam structure. Candidates wanting to "hedge their bets" for completing the exams in time will want to start with Parts 1 and 2, both of which transition 1-for-1 into the 3-Part system.

HOCK will release Study Materials for the new 3-Part CIA exam structure in the future when they will be relevant to prepare for the new exams, and we will provide support at that time for transitioning materials to the new exam structure.

More information about the new structure is available on the IIA web site and the Certification News Page.
