    Hello Brian,
I need to confirm a few things to make sure I understand the concept for QAIP. Please see below

    1) For a periodic self-assessment can be done from within an organization but from any other department outside the audit department?

    2) For Self assessment with independent validation, a draft report is prepared by the independent person; however, my question to you is who makes the initial evaluation for a saiv to validate it?

    3) If an internal audit is only three years or any number less then five years old and doing an ongoing monitoring regularly throughout the year, can it say “conforms with the iia standard?

Thanks in advance for your quick response.

    Hello, Shahnez,

    In answer to your questions:

    1) The periodic self-assessment can be performed by the IAA. That is the ‘self-assessment’ part of the name of it.

    2) The CAE prepares the initial report that the independent assessor then tests to see if the CAE’s assessment is correct.

    3) Yes, they can do say that they are in conformance, if they internal assessments show that. There is a nice explanation on an IIA webpage that has this information, but I can’t copy it here. This is the page: https://na.theiia.org/services/quality/Pages/Frequently-Asked-Questions.aspx

Go to the last section that is titled “Use of Conformance Statement” and the second question in that section is about this question.

    I hope that this helps.

    Brian
