for this question, programmers are allowed to modify programs right? So why is the option “Users can update production data and application programmers can modify production programs” not correct.

    Yamini,

That choice is incorrect because programmers cannot modify production programs. Programmers should only have access to the development environment and test data, and then the librarian is responsible for moving the programs to production.

Be sure to pay close attention to the word “production” in questions about segregation of duties in IT.

So Programmers can modify programs within the Information systems Department but not the production programs. Is that correct?

    Yamini,

It’s not about which department the programs are in. It’s about whether the programs are being used for live, active company data. Programmers should only have access to test environments and test data, and should not be able to modify programs being used by the company for everyday live processing.
