Exam Tip: 5 Tips for Answering CMA Essays/Problems

  1. Do not be nervous. You probably will not need to write very much.
  2. Remember that you get points for every step that you have correct, even if you get the wrong answer (i.e. you are given partial credit). Do as much as you can and do not leave any answer blank.
  3. It is common for questions to have two parts, a calculation and an explanation. Even if you do not get the calculation correct, you can still get full credit for the explanation.
  4. Do not prepare for problems about specific topics. You need to be prepared to answer questions about any topic on the syllabus.
  5. Make sure that you have a broad knowledge of all of the exam topics and can explain why a number is important or significant.
