Why choose HOCK international?

We know that you have many choices when choosing your exam preparation materials. There are many content and technical advantages to using HOCK.

Content Advantages

  1. The HOCK Exam Prep has been developed with over 10 years of experience interacting one-on-one with classroom students. Our teachers receive feedback in person from students and improve the materials on an ongoing basis.
  2. Our Exam Prep is not a review program that assumes you already know the subject matter and just need a refresher. Throughout the materials, we try to be as comprehensive as possible and fully explain all of the concepts without going into unnecessary detail. This is especially important when covering more difficult topics – we explain every concept so that you can understand it regardless of your work experience or how long you have been out of school. You will not have to purchase any additional textbooks from other companies to prepare.
  3. Our textbooks are written using easy-to-understand language in full paragraphs and are formatted using color to highlight notes and examples. Our printed textbooks are printed in color on regular-weight white paper.

CMA Exam only

  1. The CMA exam contains an extensive list of topics that are considered assumed knowledge, including economics, statistics and financial accounting. Because not all candidates may have the necessary background in these topics, we have developed an Assumed Knowledge e-Book covering these topics beyond the exam syllabus.
  2. The pass rate for CMA candidates who study with HOCK is about 60%, compared to the overall pass rate of about 40%.

CIA Exam only

  1. In CIA Parts 1 and 2, we have re-organized the syllabus to make it easier to follow and understand. One of our CIA students gave us this feedback about the organization of our textbook: “I am very thankful that HOCK made the effort to coordinate and integrate the required CIA testing material. Some other products are very disjointed and difficult to follow, and I think that is a function of the original IIA syllabus. Your textbook is a great improvement.”
  2. The pass rate for CIA candidates who study with HOCK is about 75%, compared to the overall pass rate of about 50%.

Technical Advantages

  1. HOCK is the first and only company to provide our Textbooks in PDF for use across many types of computers and mobile devices, including the iPad. Most computers can open the textbooks without installing any additional software.
  2. HOCK is the first and only company to provide CMA and CIA Study Software (ExamSuccess) for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. We also offer ExamSuccess compatible Windows and Mac computers.
  3. All of our electronic materials can be used offline; they are not web-based. While the initial download is made from our web site, the software runs locally on your PC or Mac so that you can study even when you do not have Internet access.
  4. You will be able to access the latest materials at no extra charge when the materials are updated. We post details of changes on our web site so that you can review the specific changes and/or print them out for later review.
  5. Your access to the materials does not have any pre-defined expiration; you may continue to use the materials as long as you need to pass the exams. We do not believe that you should have to pay again for something that you have already purchased.

IMA's and IIA's Learning Systems

The IMA's CMA Learning System and the IIA's CIA Learning System were developed using the same exam syllabuses that every course developer and candidate has, and were not developed with any special knowledge of the actual exam or exam questions. If they were, it would be unethical. So, there is no reason to believe that the IMA's and IIA's Learning Systems will prepare you better for the exams just because the IMA and IIA are selling them.
