About HOCK international

In 2000, Brian Hock founded HOCK Training in Moscow, Russia, to provide classroom courses for CPA Exam preparation. Over the next decade, HOCK Training added programs for the CMA, CIA, and CFA Exams as well as several Russian-language accounting exams. Based on his experience teaching thousands of candidates in classrooms across Eastern Europe, HOCK international was founded in 2003 as a sister company to provide materials for self-study. HOCK international soon established itself as a worldwide leader in CMA self-study materials and expanded in 2006 with a complete program for the CIA Exam. In July 2011, HOCK introduced CPA materials beginning with the Regulation exam, and will release materials for the remaining exams in the upcoming months.

About our Founder

Brian Hock, CMA, CIA founded HOCK Training in Moscow, Russia, in 2000 and founded HOCK international in 2003 and is the President of both companies. He graduated Cum Laude from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) with degrees in Accountancy and History and has been teaching CMA, CIA, CPA and CFA courses across Eastern Europe for over a decade. Prior to founding HOCK Training, he was a trainer with Price Waterhouse and Arthur Andersen in Russia. He still teaches with HOCK Training and uses his experience in the classroom and feedback from students to continuously improve the materials, and draws on his multi-disciplinary experience to bring fresh perspectives to his classes. His straightforward approach to teaching has been adopted by everyone at HOCK and is evident in all of HOCK's materials. Brian also provides ongoing oversight to the growth of the Exam Preparation Programs at HOCK international. In 2010 he was involved in starting an IMA Chapter in Moscow that continues to grow and provides accounting professionals with valuable networking, education and development opportunities.

About our Leaders

Lynn Roden, CMA has been with HOCK international since its founding in 2003 and is our CMA Program Director. She is a co-author of the HOCK textbooks and other study materials and answers thousands of questions annually from students around the world. Lynn has a Bachelor of Arts in business administration with a concentration in finance from Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio, earned Summa Cum Laude in 1988, and a Master of Arts in Theological Studies with a major in church history from North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago, graduating in 1990 with First Honors. She has served in public relations and marketing, profit planning, and commercial loan officer positions in commercial banks; as trust accountant, performing accounting for investments in charitable trusts; and as controller for a reseller and installer of corporate audio-visual systems. Her business and educational background gives her a broad perspective on the information covered on the CMA exams and unique abilities in developing study materials and answering students' questions.

Kevin Hock joined HOCK international in January 2006 and is our Operations Director. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) with degrees in Computer Science and Accountancy and has taught courses at Miami in both Java and client-server systems. In 1999, he co-founded OxONet, Inc., providing reliable, affordable and customizable web hosting for small businesses in Oxford, and later around the world. In 2003, he co-founded BitWise Communications, LLC, offering both professional and personal secure instant messaging. As part of his work with BitWise, Kevin became a developer on the open source wxWidgets project, providing enhancements to all platforms and co-authoring the book Cross-Platform GUI Programming with wxWidgets. At HOCK he manages the daily operations, supervises customer support, provides strategic guidance for new products and services based on customer feedback, and oversees HOCK's servers and networks. He has also contributed to the HOCK textbooks in the areas of Information Technology and Systems Control.
